Love Note Trailer: Drafting and Planning credits and punctuation

I've now improved the slogans in between the clips during the trailer.
The colors are a lot lighter than before where I used dark brown and red. Because of this it provides a less intense and more 'light heart' element.
The font encourages the fantasy side to the story.
I was also inspired by the font used from the poster in 'The Lucky One' which supports the romantic genre.

Now the slogans have changed to 'Take note' 'of the tricks' 'behind love' which directly address the audience; as if to lead them into the secrets of love that nobody else knows.
In that sense, it's like what the protagonist is going through, being tempted by the book which then becomes a center piece of her life.

Planning Empire magazine: Using Adobe Photoshop

During the development of my magazine cover, I used various techniques through Photoshop so to make my magazine as much like a cover of Empire.

Being inspired by the Inception cover of Empire, I used the 'Warp text tool' to adjust the cover lines at an angle which focuses on Carla and the book.

I also changed the colours involved in the photo through using gradients and changing the layers properties.

I decided to give a pinky hue so to suit the romantic theme of the cover and the film. It also fits with the house colours of the magazine: red, dark brown, gold and white.

Photoshop also provided custom shapes which I included as part of the cover. I've seen some Empire magazines with extra shapes to give the cover identity, so in this case I used arrows to link with the angel of love, Cupid.

Researching the best Empire magazine cover towards Potential target audience

After a class vote on which front cover was best, there were 16 votes for the close up of Carla and 2 votes for the long shot.

So now this is my chosen picture for my Empire magazine cover of Love Note.

Drafting Empire magazine cover: Two versions

I edited 2 of my photos so they appear as if they're on the cover of Empire. At the moment I'm struggling to decide which cover I want to take on further.

Empire magazine cover: organising the photo shoot

Today I took photo's for my front cover of Empire magazine. I took on some original ideas as well as some new ones too.
The location is a corridor with a blank wall which allows Amber to stand out in the photo. Having a simple background supports some of Empire's layouts as they too have gradient backgrounds in some of their covers.
The notebook is also involved as the centre piece prop of the story as well as in the cover.
Amber is wearing comfortable, teenage clothes which support her age and the target audience.

Here 'Carla' is hiding herself with the notebook, avoiding anyone to see it's contents but herself. It also shows her shy character as well as her obsession of the notebooks powers.

Here shows a different perspective of her holding the book, as if she's trying to keep it away from anyone's grasp.

This long shot demonstrates a new way of hiding the notebook and highlights her shy character too. It could also fit well as a front cover for Empire magazine as a lot of their covers have a long shot involved.

Another version of  'Carla' hiding behind the notebook, but this time she's facing the camera and her eyes are looking towards something else. I wanted her eye contact away from the audience as this shows that she's always occupying herself with her match making role.

Drafting and Planning Love Note logo

I've come to realise from the last logo for my poster appears to distracting and does not fit with the theme of the poster very well. Therefore I've considered an alternative and simpler logo that would contrast better with the poster. I've combined some fonts together after further inspiration from the poster from The Fault in our Stars. The sketchy, loose writing will hopefully provide a light hearted element to my poster.

Empire magazine cover draft and movie poster plan

This is my first draft of my front cover for Empire magazine. I intend to display the main character Carla as a close up as inspired by the Tron cover for Empire magazine. The cover lines will surround her therefore keeping her the focus. I was also inspired to do this from the Empire cover for Inception. The main cover line will be placed bottom centre and underlined with the string that's connected to the notebook. This gives the cover further identity with the movie, making it very different from any other cover. I hope to place a pug and other conventions that'll make the cover appear like it's from Empire.

Before I began taking photos for my poster, I planned out further how I'm hoping to go about it. I took on an idea of each person with their own body feature to display some sort of body language that signals love. For example, a form of flirting for a girl will be playing with her hair.

I'll consider this idea as I take my photos so to recognise whether it's worth using or too distracting.

Love Note Trailer first draft

I presented my first draft of my trailer to the class and the response was overall positive.

To improve what I've done so far, I must make my trailer appear more like a trailer than just a series of scenes from a film. To achieve this I can insert credits between scenes or shorten the scenes.
